Senol Zorlu - research and inspiration

When I was researching portrait photographers last year, the work of Senol Zorlu stuck out along with the work of Steve Mc curry.  I feel that their work has much more depth and am able to relate more to their work probably because it has an culture embedded in it.

Senol Zolu's work is in colour but his photographs are all based with rich earth tones giving the photo a beautiful but unique finish which seems to symbolise his style.  The tones and colours of the photograph enhance the ethnic culture whilst the outdoor background creates more depth and gives it the image more meaning.  When I studied the work of this photographer it inspired me to take photographs using the outdoors as a background with natural light to give it more of a natural ethnic feel.

Şenol Zorlu is a Turkish photographer living and working in Germany, who seems to be one of those elusive types. In the photographs you’ll note the pink lines going through the photographs. This is a way for the photographer to maintain ownership of his work.  He is a photographer and researcher for street children at the PH (?) in Heidelberg. He seeks to explore ethnographical photography on the base of scientific research methods.
